Guatemalan Textile Bomber

Lots of life must have lived in this jacket antecedent to it finding me, I envisage the long haul drudgery of looped woven stitches to it’s finalization and distribution. My mind wonders trickling across thrift clothing and self perception. For example,  If you wear a white coat that you believe belongs to a doctor, your ability to pay attention increases sharply. But if you wear the same white coat believing it belongs to a painter, your attention span may differ. I love the idea of trying to figure out why when we put on certain clothes, the affects of our mood & basic abilities shift. This is my perception & aesthetic w/ this jacket, some worn pieces say a lot without saying anything at all.

I bought my ostentatious bomber jacket from Resale Folds, one of my favorite treasured thrift shops to shop – ask for Lucia & Jesse. They both own & restock all items w/ detailed vision alongside infectious personalities you will not be able to stir away from, genuinely prodigious human beings. This magnum opus is a beautiful vibrant vintage handmade Guatemalan textile patchwork style bomber jacket. Its a unisex multicolored stripes and pattern weave background, cotton batwing long sleeve w/ a front zipper, stand up collar, ribbed knit cuffs, two inset pockets, rib knit elastic waist band, boxy shoulder fit and some neon love.

I made usage of comparable color scheme scarf I owned which is actually a knot-wrap for gift wrapping from Lush. For the past years, this has been my “go to” buying most of these wraps turning them into head scarfs. I gelled my front hair, throwing the rest of it in a rivet messy half ponytail as coupling my curls hanging out whimsically.

I wore light weight beige thermal underneath, standard blue jeans adjacent to Converse Chuck Taylor multi-colored sequin sneakers with upper a reflective patch and a cushioned insole. Kept the jewelry light wearing only my gold hoop earrings, cat eyeliner, mauve nude lipstick from MAC Cosmetics (I can’t remember the shade) zing green eyeshadow from Jane Cosmestics in the inner tear dot for that pop of radiance & highlight.  Closing out the outfit, I clinched a large pin across the collar to keep that up-right effect w/out having to “pop my collar” consistently – worked like a charm!

Dolls Kill

Quick back story:  Tracing back to the spring time when I took a “girl’s trip” w/ a friend to Los Angeles. Mid-day on our way to cram & ingest brunch, cruising down LA’s boulevards in our rent-a-car we stumbled across a Dolls Kill store. Sudden gasp, all in awe’s among some mean eyeballing as we drove by, we both shouted “we gotta go there.” If you aren’t familiar w/ the brand,  Dolls Kill is an online boutique featuring a rebellious spirit and attitude, mixed with a bit of punk rock, goth, glam and festival fashion. As for those who know me, I mean those who really know me – know I’m always a punk kid at heart!

After digesting down & devouring brunch we made our way to the freshly new opened store in LA located on 415 N. Fairfax. Apace of pride, I strode away leaving w/ two staple pieces I can wear multiudinous ways.  These two staples being inspiration for my outfit involves and strictly revolves around a O-ring choker bull charm with a buckle closure and captain hat with a vinyl bill. Now, lets fast forward to present time where I accoutre everything in sync.

Aiming for more of a militant image, I assimilated a sleek yet simple all black garments. I gathered my thrifted belt, mid high wasted jeans and sleeveless black bodysuit in ribbed stretched jersey with a mock turtleneck and lined gusset with snap fasteners for that secure strapped in feel.

To execute the fit, I wore a pair of faux leather knee-high combat boots featuring a round toe, lace-up closure, side zipper, and buckle strap detail. My black skull earrings are from Tarina Tarantino. I just love her jewelry, very costume like and these classic  Memento Mori skull and black swarovski crystal detail. My rings & moon ring  are all from a boutique from different parts of Los Angeles.

Metallic Dynamite – 4th of July

I was bit indecisive going with the whole traditional red, white and blue representation scheme for an outfit on the 4th of July. I was invited to a rooftop party that subsume live music, food and fireworks you can see sky rocket up from the city skyline so I was positive I wanted to sport something flashy or categorical to that. Browsing through my dresser for options, I reached for a sleeveless hoodie I purchased during the spring and yet to wear. Mainly because of the ostentatious shine (wearing anything metallic) I said “….fuck it, I’ll just add red and blue but my way.”

My top has faux leather featuring a metallic finish, a sleeveless cut, and raw-cut cropped hem which I knotted up a bit in the front since it fits me pretty baggy. A good thing to mention is its versatility between being stylish and the advantage it has transitioning between looks. Formality, It’s an active hoodie made for athletic purposes, light weight and breathable fabric so you wont die while working out or melt from just standing/running outside considering summer temperatures and all. Or as an alternative, completely surpassing through it to switch that bitch up to your liking!

To incorporate the color “red” I slipped into satin shorts with a smocked elasticized waistband, curved hem and snap-button closure at the sides that essentially looked dynamite together with the hoodie.

To finish off the color scheme with “blue” I wore an off blueish-gray Nikes that are actually really old, I hardly wore them but still hold great value. These sneakers were a birthday present many light years ago.

Ombre nails for approximation & points of gold accessories for that contrast.
